A person who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the defendant went on to play the "sweet game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She said Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
